More details on Zakaat:
We will add more details on the zakaat. So anyone whose money reaches the value of 10 grams of Gold or Silver or more is obligated to pay the zakaat. I will explain to you the difference between the obligatory sadaqa and the non obligatory (additional donation) sadaqa. The truth can be found in the verses of Allah:
And indeed We have sent down to you manifest Ayat (these Verses of the Qur'an which inform in detail about the news of the Jews and their secret intentions, etc.), and none disbelieve in them but Fasiqun (those who rebel against Allah's Command). - Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #99
Whoever brings a good deed shall have ten times the like thereof to his credit, and whoever brings an evil deed shall have only the recompense of the like thereof, and they will not be wronged. Al-Anaam, Chapter #6, Verse #160
And the “hasana” here means good deed, the good actions that is obligatory for the believers from Allah. Those who perform those good deeds that are obligatory will not receive its equal but ten fold its like. So now we can calculate how much exactly the obligatory zakaat is. I find it in the book for each ten gram of gold or silver we must pay one tenth (1/10) and how do we do that? We divide the amount by ten equal parts and give away one part of the ten parts. That is the tenth. This is Allah’s right, and so it will be written for him ten fold as if he spend all his money for Allah. In line with the verse:
Whoever brings a good deed shall have ten times the like thereof to his credit,
And those who hoard up gold and silver [Al-Kanz: the money, the Zakat of which has not been paid] and spend them not in the Way of Allah, announce unto them a painful torment - On the Day when that (Al-Kanz: money, gold and silver the Zakat of which has not been paid) will be heated in the Fire of Hell and with it will be branded their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, (and it will be said unto them): "This is the treasure which you hoarded for yourselves. Now taste of what you used to hoard."
At-Taubah, Chapter #9, Verse #34
And so it is clear that in every 10 gram there is 1 gram tobe paid as zakaat even if you have 1,000,000 gram then there is still 100,000 gram zakaat to be paid. This is the share of Allah to be paid from the original 1,000,000 gram.
And since Allah will not write is as 100,000 gram but he ordered the angel “Raqib” to write it as if he spend all his 1,000,000 gram as zakaat hence it is written as ten fold its like.
Whoever brings a good deed shall have ten times the like thereof to his credit,
But there is a huge difference between the obligatory sadaqa and the non obligatory (additional donation) sadaqa. This is from the servant who loves Allah and wants to get closer to him. The obligatory sadaqa is rewarded and calculated ten fold its like, however the non-obligatory additional sadaqa is rewarded and calculated as 690 fold its like in line with the verse:
The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knower.
Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #261
And so you find that the difference in its fold is 690 fold therefore in the book you shall find that al muqarabon (the close ones to Allah) and the people of the right. The muqaraboon (the close ones) did their obligatory duties then added on top of it more good deeds and sadaqat out of love for Allah and those people do not get enough from spending sadaqat for Allah, one of them wishes he had a mountain of gold to spend it all out of love for Allah and to get closer to him. Therefor Allah loves them and draws them nearer to him and each has a degree of what they did according to their own striving without flattery. In line with the ayah:
Did you observe him who turned away ().
And gave a little, then stopped (giving)?
Is with him the knowledge of the Unseen so that he sees?
Or is he not informed with what is in the Pages (Scripture) of Musa (Moses),
And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (Allah ordered him to do or convey):
That no burdened person (with sins) shall bear the burden (sins) of another.
And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad).
And that his deeds will be seen.
Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense.
An-Najm, Chapter #53, Verse #34
Therefore those who did good Allah will double their reward the all knowing. Those who spend 1000 gram of gold and it is an obligatory sadaqa they will be rewarded its ten fold as if they spend 10,000 grams of gold, but if those 1000 grams were non obligatory Allah will reward them and calculate it as if they spend 700,000 grams which is far more than 10,000 grams, and surely there is a huge difference between 10,000 grams and 700,000 grams for who is more generous that Allah, the most Generous of all the generous ones.
Question: do we have to pay zakaat on our monthly salaries? And what is the amount we should pay?
If the monthly money/salary you receive reaches 10 grams of gold(or its equal in paper money) then you have to pay zakaat out of that money (1 gram of gold or its equal in paper money). However I do not find in the book that the zakaat should be paid on an amount that is equal to 9 grams of gold or its like in paper money since it did not reach 10 grams yet. As for someone who receives 19 grams of gold those must pay zakaat on the first 10 grams of gold only (1 gram of gold or its equal) and not the remaining 9 grams since it did not reach 10 grams yet. But if the money reaches 20 grams then the zakaat is obligatory on the whole amount (the fist 10 grams + the second 10 grams) which is 2 grams of gold. And I m not speaking of 2 grams of gold + manufacturing cost which is now a common thing for the gold shop owners, I speak only about the price of pure gold in the international markets without any manufacturing cost from the gold shop owners who change gold into decoration.
Question: who do we pay zakaat to? Who collects it? Who will receive it? Who will spend it? Is there a minimum for the zakaat or its obligatory for all muslims? Do we have to wait a certain period like one year before we pay it or do we pay it the moment we receive our salaries or incomes?
Who collects the zakaat?
It will be delivered to those work for it, those whose duty is to collect it appointed by the khalifa of the muslims, and they receive a salary in line with the verse:
those employed to collect it
As for its distribution it is the duty of the prophet or the khalifa to distribute it in its true sources and Allah did not allocate for the rich people a share in the zakaat that is delivered to the khalifa. Unless the prophet wants that to happen for a certain wisdom to soften the hearts of the people of this world for the religion and to increase their love to him, and those who do not receive this amount have no right to be ungrateful or angry since it is not their right anyways, therefore from the rich are hypocrites, who are ungrateful and angry with the prophet in line with the verse:
And of them are some who accuse you in the matter of (the distribution of) the alms. If they are given part thereof, they are pleased, but if they are not given thereof, behold! They are enraged! - Would that they were contented with what Allah and His Messenger gave them and had said: "Allah is Sufficient for us. Allah will give us of His Bounty, and so will His Messenger (from alms). We implore Allah (to enrich us)."
As-Sadaqat (here it means Zakat ) are only for the Fuqara' (poor), and Al-Masakin (the poor) and those employed to collect (the funds), and to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam), and to free the captives, and for those in debt, and for Allah's Cause (i.e. for Mujahidun - those fighting in a holy battle), and for the wayfarer (a traveller who is cut off from everything); a duty imposed by Allah. And Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise.
At-Taubah, Chapter #9, Verse #58
As for what you refer to as (al hool) it is not referring to the zakaat of the money but the money that reaches a certain value (10 grams) to extract from it the share of Allah directly (one tenth).
The “hool” is referring to the zakaat that grows such as cattle, goats, cows and fruits and it has a different zakaat. As for the zakaat of the fruits, what is ( (يتلف should not be given to the wally as zakaat of the fruits but can be given to the poor. In line with the verse:
Verily, We have tried them as We tried the people of the garden, when they swore to pluck the fruits of the (garden) in the morning, - Without saying: Insha' Allah (If Allah wills).
Then there passed by on the (garden) a visitation (fire) from your Lord at night and burnt it while they were asleep.
So the (garden) became black by the morning, like a pitch dark night (in complete ruins). - Then they called out one to another as soon as the morning broke. - Saying: "Go to your tilth in the morning, if you would pluck the fruits." - So they departed, conversing in secret low tones (saying):
No Miskin (poor man) shall enter upon you into it today."
And they went in the morning with strong intention, thinking that they have power (to prevent the poor taking anything of the fruits therefrom).
But when they saw the (garden), they said: "Verily, we have gone astray." - (Then they said): "Nay! Indeed we are deprived of (the fruits)!" - The best among them said: "Did I not tell you: why say you not: Insha' Allah (If Allah wills)."
They said: "Glory to Our Lord! Verily, we have been Zalimun (wrong-doers)." - Then they turned one against another, blaming - They said: "Woe to us! Verily, we were Taghun (transgressors and disobedient) - We hope that our Lord will give us in exchange a better (garden) than this. Truly, we turn to our Lord (wishing for good that He may forgive our sins and reward us in the Hereafter). - Such is the punishment (in this life), but truly, the punishment of the Hereafter is greater if they but knew - Al-Qalam, Chapter #68, Verse #17
